On the surface, smooch.click is a very short choice game. I’m guessing that each of the four or five choices we make controls some statistic that determines the outcome of the kiss – whether it’s ‘successful’ or not. There are no good or bad endings per se.
Replays reveal more. The game feels like it’s procedurally generated – that is, the sections are generated pseudo-randomly, and there’s quite a lot there. I’ve played through a dozen or so times now and am still seeing variations within the narrative.
It’s nicely written. I’m not sure what it’s really trying to say, though. We choose him/her/them. Maybe it’s suggesting that it doesn’t matter – emotional connection that leads to physical expression is universal. 3/10
